Komodo island-hopping rates for 2027 fall into three bands per person for a 3D2N shared trip: roughly IDR 3,000,000–4,500,000 standard, IDR 4,500,000–7,000,000 superior with air-conditioned cabins, and IDR 8,000,000–15,000,000 luxury phinisi. Private full-boat charter runs roughly IDR 30,000,000–80,000,000 per night. Park entry is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor, charged separately.

How Komodo pricing is actually structured
There are only two ways to buy a Komodo island-hopping trip, and confusing them is the main reason quotes look inconsistent:
Per person, shared cabin (“open trip”). You buy a berth on a fixed departure with other guests. The boat sails whether your group is two people or ten. Price scales with cabin class and vessel standard.
Per boat, per night (private charter). You take the whole vessel. Price does not change with headcount up to the boat’s capacity, so a group of twelve pays the same as a couple — which is why charter becomes cheaper per head above roughly six to eight guests.
Everything below is published as a band, because a range we can defend is worth more than a precise number we cannot. Final rates depend on vessel, date, cabin configuration and what is bundled. Ask for a written quote before you transfer anything.
2027 rate bands: shared cabin, per person
| Vessel class | 3D2N per person | 4D3N per person | Typical cabin | Typical guest count | Included |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard wooden open trip | IDR 3,000,000 – 4,500,000 | IDR 4,000,000 – 6,000,000 | Shared or simple private cabin, fan or basic AC | 12–25 | Meals, water, snorkel gear, crew, tender |
| Superior / small-group | IDR 4,500,000 – 7,000,000 | IDR 6,000,000 – 9,500,000 | Air-conditioned cabin, some ensuite | 8–16 | As above, plus smaller group and better food service |
| Luxury phinisi cabin | IDR 8,000,000 – 15,000,000 | IDR 11,000,000 – 20,000,000 | Ensuite cabin, chef on board | 6–16 | As above, plus chef menu, larger deck space, dive deck on some vessels |
For cross-reference, publicly listed shared Komodo boat tours in the 2026 market show a day tour at about USD 105, a 2D1N at about USD 222, a 3D2N at about USD 272, and a 4D3N from Labuan Bajo at about USD 334 rising to about USD 545 for higher-standard vessels. Those are other operators’ published figures, quoted here so you can sanity-check any number you are given.
2027 rate bands: private full-boat charter
| Charter class | Per night, whole boat | Guests | Cabins | Best value at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard phinisi charter | IDR 30,000,000 – 45,000,000 | up to 12–16 | 5–8 | Groups of 8+ |
| Premium phinisi charter | IDR 45,000,000 – 60,000,000 | up to 12–14 | 5–7 | Groups of 6–12 wanting ensuite cabins |
| Luxury / superyacht-class charter | IDR 60,000,000 – 80,000,000+ | up to 10–16 | 4–8 | Families or corporate groups prioritising space over headcount economics |
Charter rates normally include the vessel, full crew, captain, chef, all meals, drinking water, snorkelling equipment, fuel for the agreed itinerary and tender transfers. They normally exclude national park charges, diving packages, premium alcohol and crew gratuities.
Season bands: when the same cabin costs more
| Period | Band | Sea and visibility | Booking pressure |
|---|---|---|---|
| April – June | Shoulder | Calmest sea, best visibility | Moderate; the connoisseur’s window |
| July – August | Peak | Good visibility, windier in open straits and around Padar | Highest; book 6–12 months ahead |
| September – November | Shoulder | Calm, excellent visibility | Moderate to high |
| December – March | Low / manta season | Roughest sea, monsoon rain, some vessels in maintenance | Lowest rates, highest manta density, real cancellation risk |
December to March is mispriced by the market and worth understanding. It is sold as low season because the sea is rough, but it is also peak manta season at Karang Makassar and Manta Alley, when plankton-rich water concentrates the animals. If mantas are your priority and you can tolerate weather risk, this is the value window.
National park charges — the number most pages get wrong
Komodo National Park fees are set by Peraturan Pemerintah No. 36 Tahun 2024. These are the actual figures.
| Charge | Foreign visitor | Indonesian visitor | Collected by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Park entry (PP 36/2024) | IDR 250,000 per person per visit | IDR 50,000 weekday · IDR 75,000 weekend / public holiday | Park authority |
| Trekking, wildlife observation, snorkelling | Included in the IDR 250,000 | Not itemised separately in official sources | Park authority |
| Ranger accompaniment for dragon treks | IDR 80,000 – 200,000 per group, commonly up to ~5 people | Operator-collected service charge | |
| Harbour / anchorage handling | Operator-dependent, commonly ~IDR 25,000 per person per day | Operator | |
| 2022 “membership fee” of IDR 3,750,000 | Cancelled — not in force | — | |
If a booking page tells you the Komodo entrance fee is IDR 600,000, IDR 650,000 or IDR 900,000, it is quoting a bundle: the PP 36/2024 charge plus regional retribution plus ranger or trail-management service fees. That bundle may well be what you end up paying, and it is not dishonest to charge it — but it is not the national park ticket, and you are entitled to see the breakdown.
Separately, a 1,000-visitor daily cap with morning and afternoon slots is reported as operational from 2026 and trek bookings now run through a centralised platform with QR check-in. Treat it as real: book early and do not plan on same-day access.
Best for
Standard open trip: solo travellers, backpackers, and anyone whose priority is seeing the park rather than the cabin. You will share the boat with 12–25 people.
Superior open trip: couples and small groups who want an air-conditioned cabin and a group small enough that a snorkel stop is not a queue.
Luxury phinisi cabin: travellers who want ensuite comfort and chef-prepared food without paying for a whole boat.
Private charter: groups of six or more, families with children, corporate charters, and anyone who wants the itinerary built around their own priorities rather than a fleet schedule. Above roughly eight guests, charter usually beats buying individual cabins.
To decide which format your schedule supports, see the day trip versus overnight cost and time comparison. If your search started in Bali, read what “Bali to Padar and Pink Beach” really means before you budget, and the first stop of every route is covered in the Kelor Island guide. A wider set of sailing dates is published by more departures from Labuan Bajo.
Frequently asked questions about 2027 rates
How much is a 3D2N Komodo trip per person in 2027?
Roughly IDR 3,000,000–4,500,000 on a standard wooden open trip, IDR 4,500,000–7,000,000 on a superior air-conditioned vessel, and IDR 8,000,000–15,000,000 for a luxury phinisi cabin. National park charges are additional.
How much does it cost to charter a whole boat in Komodo?
Roughly IDR 30,000,000–45,000,000 per night for a standard phinisi, IDR 45,000,000–60,000,000 premium, and IDR 60,000,000–80,000,000 or above for luxury-class vessels. The rate covers the boat, crew, chef, meals and fuel for the agreed itinerary.
At what group size does private charter become cheaper?
Generally above six to eight guests. Below that, buying individual cabins on a shared departure is usually cheaper; above it, the fixed nightly charter rate divides into a lower per-person figure while giving you full control of the itinerary.
What is the Komodo National Park entrance fee in 2027?
IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit under PP 36/2024, with trekking, wildlife observation and snorkelling included. Indonesian visitors pay IDR 50,000 on weekdays and IDR 75,000 on weekends and public holidays.
Why do some sites say the park fee is IDR 650,000?
Because that figure bundles the PP 36/2024 charge with regional retribution and ranger or trail-management service fees. It may be what you pay in total, but it is not the national park ticket and you should ask for the itemised breakdown.
When is the cheapest time to visit Komodo?
December to March, which is the monsoon low season. It is also peak manta season, so if you can accept rougher seas and a real cancellation risk it is the best value window in the year.
How far in advance should I book?
Six to twelve months for July–August departures and for manta-season dates. Shoulder months of April–June and September–November can often be booked two to three months ahead, though popular vessels sell out earlier.
What is not included in the price?
National park charges are frequently excluded, as are diving packages, alcohol, crew gratuities, Labuan Bajo hotel nights and flights. Ask for a written inclusion list before paying a deposit.
Can I pay a deposit and settle later?
Most operators take a deposit to hold a cabin or charter date with the balance due before departure. Terms vary by vessel and season; get the cancellation policy in writing at the same time as the quote.
Are these rates guaranteed?
No. The bands on this page are market reference ranges reviewed on 1 August 2026, not quotations. Fuel, exchange rates and vessel availability move them. A written quote against your specific dates is the only firm figure.
