Komodo Day-Trip Prices 2026: What the Public Listings Actually Show

August 1, 2026

7 min read

Published 2026 listings put a Komodo day tour at about USD 105, a 2D1N at USD 222, a 3D2N at USD 272 and a 4D3N from Labuan Bajo at USD 334, rising to USD 430 if the trip departs from Lombok. Individual boats list up to USD 545 for the same three-day format. All of these exclude the PP 36/2024 park fee.

Most price articles about Komodo quote nothing at all, or quote a range so wide it says nothing. This one uses figures competitors publish on their own pages, read on 1 August 2026, so you can check every number yourself. Then it explains why the same product carries a 60% spread.

Why the same three days ranges from USD 272 to USD 545

Variable Effect on price What to ask
Guest count A 32–35 guest boat spreads cost across far more berths than a 12-guest one How many guests and how many cabins?
Cabin type Shared bunk vs private en-suite double is the biggest single line Is the bathroom en-suite?
Vessel Wooden open-trip boat vs motorised phinisi Which vessel, and what year was it refitted?
Departure point Lombok departures cost roughly USD 96 more for the same nights Is day one a transit day?
Season Peak July–August and late December carry the top of every band Which season band is my date?
Park fees IDR 250,000 official, but quoted as 600,000–650,000 when bundled Which part is the PP 36/2024 ticket?

The park fee line, corrected

One operator’s public page quotes the Komodo entrance fee as IDR 600,000; others quote IDR 650,000 or IDR 900,000. The official tariff under PP 36/2024, as socialised by Balai Taman Nasional Komodo, is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit and IDR 50,000 on weekdays or IDR 75,000 on holidays for Indonesian visitors, with trekking, wildlife observation and snorkelling included. The difference between 250,000 and 650,000 is local levies and ranger or trail service — legitimate charges, but not the national park ticket. The IDR 3,750,000 “membership fee” proposed in 2022 was cancelled and is not payable.

Converting the USD figures into a like-for-like comparison

USD listings and IDR packages are rarely comparing the same thing. A USD 272 three-day trip is normally a bunk on a large shared boat with a shared bathroom, park fees extra. An IDR 6,000,000–8,350,000 package from an Indonesian operator is typically a private cabin on a smaller boat with more inclusions. Before you compare, normalise for four things: cabin type, guest count, whether park fees are inside, and whether day one is a transit day.

What honest pricing looks like

  • A stated band per cabin class rather than a single number with an asterisk.
  • Park fees itemised, with the PP 36/2024 portion identified.
  • Season bands published, not discovered at the quote stage.
  • Guest count and cabin count stated for the actual vessel.
  • A written quote valid for a stated number of days.

That is the standard we hold ourselves to on the rates page for this vessel, and it is the standard worth demanding from anyone else.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Komodo day trip in 2026?

Published operator listings put a shared speedboat day tour at about USD 105, excluding the park entry fee. Overnight formats are listed at roughly USD 222 for 2D1N and USD 272 for 3D2N on the same pages.

Why do Komodo 3D2N prices range from USD 272 to USD 545?

Guest count, cabin type and vessel. A 32–35 guest boat with shared bathrooms spreads cost far wider than a 12-guest boat with en-suite cabins. Season and departure point add the rest.

Is the Komodo park fee IDR 600,000?

No. That is a bundled figure some operators publish. The official PP 36/2024 tariff is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit, or IDR 50,000–75,000 for Indonesian visitors, with trekking and snorkelling included.

Is it cheaper to depart from Lombok or Labuan Bajo?

Labuan Bajo. Published 2026 listings show a 4D3N from Labuan Bajo at USD 334 against USD 430 from Lombok for the same number of nights — the extra cost buys transit, not park time.

Do published prices include park fees?

Usually not, and that is where comparisons break. Add IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor as a minimum before comparing any two quotes, and ask each operator to itemise anything above it.
